Words cannot express how happy we are with our new addition to our family. Dakota is only nine months old, but seems as though she has been with us forever.
When my husband Rich and I first met Barb and Ken, we really had no intention of purchasing a puppy. We had just put my husbands K9 partner Toby down a week before and we were in need of puppy kisses. After spending a few minutes chatting, we got to see the "nursery". You can imagine our surprise when we were introduced to eleven puppies!!! One more gorgeous than the next. All but one little girl had been sold and Barb had said that they were thinking of keeping her for themselves.
Needless to say, that didn't happen. It was love at first sight. This little ball of fur stole my heart from the minute I laid eyes on her.
My husband is a K9 officer and knows what to look for in a working dog. Even though Dakota is not a police dog, she does posess the qualities of one. She's smart, obedient, loyal, friendly yet fiercly protective of us and our children. She's also good with our other animals ( though I'm sure she could live without the cats ).
I highly recommend the Daniel's when choosing your next Shepherd. You won't be disappointed! Denise and Rich Shanahan
In Jan of 2000, I had the pleasure or privilege to become part of a police K9 unit. I bought my first partner from a broker, who imports German Shepherds from European working lines. My second partner arrived here in July of 2006. Both of them were at least 15 months old when they arrived here in the USA. So I missed the puppy stages.
I had never bought, raised or otherwise been able to experience my own, high quality (working line quality) puppy before. But when my first partner passed away, I paid Barb and Ken a visit to peek at my brother's new pup. I was very impressed! Everything that they do for the pups was apparently, first rate. But it was also a home grown operation, with lots of personal care and attention.
My wife talked me in to selecting a pup when I wasn't even looking for one. We picked the only pup that was left from that litter. My first experience with a female Shepherd I might add. And she has been an absolute joy! She is a large, extremely smart and challenging creature! I enjoy watching her learn. Creatures of habit, they are, which has made her a very quick study. And the best part is, I haven't even done the kind of training that I wanted to yet. I let her be a puppy.
Koda is now almost 10 months old and we are very much head over heels for our dog! Koda is very social and gentle with our family. She wants to play with whomever will give her the time. But she can be very serious too! She is just a baby but I know that my property is secure. Koda let's all who happen by know that she is on the job. I enjoy coming home to her most of all. She is always so excited to see me. She greets me by sitting calmly in front of me, gets some attention then she grabs a toy for us to play with! I had the brief privilege of watching her father work though. He is a top local competitor in the Schutzhund sport, so I know where she comes from and what she is capable of as well. And I know that a friend of Barb and Ken, who is in the breeding and Schutzhund sport, has been interested in claiming our puppy if we grew tired of her. No chance!!! I am looking forward to putting some time into Koda's development, to see what she
can achieve
If you are considering the best, American born European working line Shepherd, you should definitely contact and visit with Barb and Ken. And if you need to see a youngster as proof, I would gladly bring Koda by so that you could see for yourself. Remember though, if you are intereted in the challenge of a working line pup, look no further. Your search is over!
Sincerely and very satisfied! Rich Shanahan
